Practices of Healthy Associations
I had the privilege of speaking to the Florida Baptist Conference of Associational Leaders (FBCAL) in Jacksonville, FL on January 9, 2024 on “Practices of Healthy Associations,” and “Trends in Associational Missions.” Over the coming weeks, I would like to share with you several practices that I see as common to healthy, effective associations. Here is the third one.

The Association is Adding Value to the Churches by Resourcing Them – Especially Smaller Churches.
You resource your pastors/leaders by providing quality training/equipping conferences, networking opportunities, pastors/wives retreats, etc. If you want more information on how to do this, I encourage you to check out the webinar I led called “How to Host Effective Key Leader Training for Your Churches,” available for free for SBCAL members at www.sbcal.org. (If you are not a member, the annual dues are only $50.)
Your partnership with your state convention is invaluable here. You can also partner with a neighboring association or a larger church in your association to provide resources for your churches.
A Word to the Wise: “Are you resting or resisting God’s sovereignty? You say, “How do I know if I’m resting or resisting God’s sovereignty? Here’s how: Resting in God’s sovereignty produces peace. Resisting God’s sovereignty produces worry.”
Ernest Easley, 1.24.24, Lifeway Research, Uncovering the Secret of Resting in God’s Sovereignty
Here are Four Things to Know this Week:
5 Church Communication Resolutions for 2024 (Mark MacDonald)

8 Encouraging Trends In Global Christianity for 2024 (Lifeway Research)
5 Ways to Teach the Art of Dying: Recognizing the Sanctity of Life Through All of Life (Ben Mitchell)
May we live to the praise of His glory this week,
Ray
