The goal of this blog is to be a source of encouragement, inspiration, and equipping for associational leaders, as well as pastors and other on-mission Christians.
Ray is a native Georgian, born in Macon and raised in Warner Robins. His father farmed in Bonaire, south of there. He is a graduate of Middle Georgia College, the University of Georgia, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX. He also has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC.
He has served as Pastor of First Baptist, Conley, GA and First Baptist, Ashburn, GA. He has experience as the associational leader of the Northwest Georgia & Lookout Valley Baptist Associations, the West Metro Baptist Association, and the Henry Baptist Association. Ray is the founding leader of the Southside Baptist Network. In addition, he has served as an Associate Pastor of Community Baptist, Crosby, TX; Hebron Baptist, Dacula, GA; and First Baptist, Centerville, GA.
Ray began his service to the Southside Baptist Network on March 1, 2013. He began this blog March 5, 2014. In addition to serving pastors and churches on the southside of Atlanta, he serves his fellow SBC Associational Mission Strategists (AMSs) as the President/CEO of the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Leaders (SBCAL). He has led this network since July 1, 2015.
He seeks to assist the Southside Baptist Network (SBN) churches in advancing the Gospel. In addition, he seeks to lead the Southern Baptist Conference of Associational Leaders to equip, encourage, and network for more effective kingdom impact for the glory of God. At SBN he serves as a Minister to Ministers, a Ministry Leader of various ministries that provide training and resourcing to pastors, staff, and churches, and as a Mission Strategist to help revitalize struggling churches and assist churches in planning and planting new churches.
In addition to leading SBCAL, he edited their book, “The Baptist Association: Assisting Churches, Advancing the Gospel,” published by Rainer Publishing in 2020.
