“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men” (Proverbs 22:29 NASB).
Wise people learn from watching others and studying about their craft. The CSB Study Bible says about being skilled, “To be skilled is to be experienced, learned, efficient, and accurate in one’s vocation.”

If we are not careful, Associational Mission Strategists (AMSs), we can easily coast. But that is not only a sin against the Lord but it is also a sin against our pastors and churches. We should always be striving to be more and more skillful in our vocational ministry for the glory of God and for the good of our pastors and churches.
One way to become more skilled in your work is to join an AMS Cohort.
AMS Cohorts Begin This Fall – Register By August 18
Are you a new Associational Leader? Are you an experienced one who wants to sharpen his skills, make new friends, and help others do the same? This fall we will begin SBCAL AMS Cohorts. They will average 4-6 in each group, plus a facilitator. I plan to facilitate up to four a month, but I already have others willing to do so, as well.
If you are interested in being in an AMS Cohort meeting for approximately an hour a month by Zoom for iron sharpening iron times across state lines about issues we face, studying helpful resources, and experiencing times of prayer, fellowship, and encouragement, email me at [email protected] by August 1. Each group will decide on how long to keep meeting, but I recommend 4 – 8 months. Depending on how soon I can populate each group, we will start in September. Let me know:
What type of group you would like to be in? New AMSs, experienced, larger associations of 75 or more churches, metro, city, town and country, by region, and/or “it does not matter”
What days of the week and/or times of day are be best for you?
What topics would you like to discuss/needs that you would like addressed?
